A GOTR 5K is a celebration! At the end of their 10-week program, GOTR girls from across Miami-Dade come together to achieve their goals on 5K day. And they depend on a small army of volunteers to help them shine, so bring your sparkle and squad up! Here are our volunteer roles:

6:30 AM Start: Urban Gym Team –> Registration & Check In 2-hour commitment

Registration volunteers to assist PG Timing with runner check-in, PPU, and same-day registration, registering runners who did not preregister for the event.

6:30 AM Start: Urban Playground Team –> Activity Station Team 3-hour commitment

Activity station volunteers help generate excitement for the girls and families with activities before the 5K begins. They will oversee one of several fun stations, such as face painting, "Bling your Bib," or the Photo Booth. All activity station tables are open between 7:30 AM - 9:30 AM. After activity stations are closed, volunteers will help break down the stations and then may support the 5K course.

7:45 AM Start: Urban Playground Team –> Gear Check Team 3-hour commitment

Gear check volunteers will oversee the bag check during the race.

7:30 AM Start: Prominade Team –> Course Set Up and Support 3-hour commitment

Prominade Team volunteers set up and break down our course, manage our start and finish line, and support program participants as they complete the 5K. In this critical role, you may need to walk up to 1.5 miles. After the 5K begins, you will help on the course and at the finish line.

8:00 AM Start: Water table Team –> Course Support 2-hour commitment

The water station team sets up cups of water at the station before the race begins and then distributes them to participants. After the last runner passes, the team cleans up the area and breaks down the station.

8:00 AM Start: Promenade Bike Safety Team –> Course Safety 2-hour commitment

The bike/safety team plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of all participants on the course throughout the 5K. This team is typically made up of trained individuals on bikes who patrol the course, monitor for any incidents, and provide quick assistance when needed. They also help with the course setup and assist other event volunteers by reporting that the water station, cheer station, and other key areas are running smoothly and safely.

8:00 am Start: Promenade Course Team –> Course Management 2-hour commitment

Promenade Course Team members serve as cheerleaders along the course as they support program participants and their running buddies! They also help to ensure the safety of all participants. As a Course Team volunteer, you can chalk inspirational messages, hold up cheer signs, or use a cowbell to make some noise on the course! In this role, you may need to walk up to 1.5 miles.

8:00 AM Start: Water Station Team –> Course Support 2-hour commitment

The water station team sets up cups of water at the water station before the race begins. They then pass out water to runners along the course. After the last runner passes, the team helps with the cleanup of the station.

8:00 AM Start: Promenade Course Experience Team –> Course Support 3-hour commitment

Promenade Experience Team members support the runners and serve as cheerleaders along the course. They also help to ensure the safety of all participants. As a Course Experience volunteer, you can chalk inspirational messages, hold up cheer signs, or use a cowbell to make some noise on the course!

8:30 AM Start: Sparkle Runners 3.1-mile commitment

Sparkle Runners run the course while supporting GOTR girls along the way with cheers, encouragement, and smiles! All Sparkle Runners must complete a background check. Register as a Sparkle Runner here.

Put me in, coach!

If any of the above roles sound great to you, and you're willing to help out where we need you most, just register for the Sparkle Squad, and we will find a job for you.
